How to Backup and Restore Registry In Windows 7, XP and Vista

If you are a geek or tweak-lover obviously you may have touched the Windows Registry. Since registry values are acting a main role in Windows we should be very careful while handling those values. If you done something wrong, its really difficult to revert back to the old settings.

So we would like to present this post with a method which can backup your registry. This leads you to play with the registry without a headache.

Backing Up Registry In Windows

STEP 1 : Go to Run. (Windows Key + R).

STEP 2 : Type regedit and hit enter. The Registry Editor Window opens.

STEP 3 : Go to File > Export.

STEP 4 : Select a secure location for the exported backup file.  Give a name for it  and hit Save.

Restoring Registry In Windows

STEP 1 : Go to Run  (Windows Key + R).

STEP 2 : Type regedit and hit enter. The Registry Editor Window opens.

STEP 3 : Go to File > Import.

STEP 4 : Browse and locate the backed up registry file and Press Enter.

That’s it. You just backup your registry and restore it.
